About EPOD

The Earth Science Picture of the Day (EPOD) highlights the diverse processes and phenomena which shape our planet and our lives. EPOD will collect and archive photos, imagery, graphics, and artwork with short explanatory captions and links exemplifying features within the Earth system. The community is invited to contribute digital imagery, short captions and relevant links. Image contribution guidelines, and acceptable use policies can be found on at the EPOD main page.

The successful Astronomy Picture of the Day is the progenitor of the EPOD concept. EPOD is also meant to complement the Earth Observing System's education site, Earth Observatory. The ESSE program's web site ESSOnline also maintains links to current Earth system science news items of interest.

The Earth Science Picture of the Day (EPOD) was initiated under a grant from the NASA Goddard Directors Discretionary Fund (DDF) in collaboration with the Universities Space Research Association (USRA) Earth System Science Education (ESSE) program.
