Early last month, the International Geophysical and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARRS) held their annual meeting, which this year was held in Sydney, Australia at the University of New South Wales. Over 1,000 scientists from various disciplines participated in this symposium. The purpose of this symposuim is for scientists to exchange information about the work they're engaged in and present and discuss new and interesting results they've obtained. The Sydney Opera House, shown above, is the gem of Sydney Harbor and was the site of one of the symposium's evening receptions. See the Earth Science Picture of the Day for September 18, 2000.
