This SeaWiFS image was taken on October 14 and shows North Korea, South Korea, Japan and portions eastern Russia, eastern Mongolia and northeastern China. Though clouds are evident over eastern China and much of Japan, smoke and other aerosols may also be seen, especially over the Sea of Japan, between the main Japanese island of Honshu and the coast of North Korea and Russia, and in the Yellow Sea, between South Korea and China. In addition, note the plumes (aquamarine color) hugging the coast of China that likely result from sediment-laden rivers emptying into the Yellow Sea (Yellow River) and the East China Sea (the Yangtze River).
