Yesterday marked the 100th birthday of Ansel Adams, America's best known black and white landscape photographer. Adams was born on February 20, 1902 and died in 1984. The above photo of Yellowstone Falls was taken at the end of the snowmelt season in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming. It's but one of several hundred taken by Adams of the American West for the US Department of the Interior (USDI) between 1933 and 1942.
