Most of the year this beach in southern California is not a good location for surfing. A few times a year, however, when the tides, winds and swell cooperate it mutates into a winter playland for surfers. Anacapa (one of the Channel Islands off the coast of Santa Barbara) can be seen in the background. People have changed the natural landscape by adding the numerous rocks to temporarily protect the Pacific Coast Highway seen in the foreground.
