Salt Lake City
February 08, 2002
Landsat 7 captured this false color nearly cloud free image of the Salt Lake City area on February 8, 2001. The snow is back again this year for the 2002 Winter Olympics and millions will be watching events of the coming weeks occuring at winter resorts and stadiums throughout the area. The Wasatch Mountains east of Salt Lake City provide the rugged topography and elevation necessary to host world-class winter sports - mountain resorts west of Park City will host ski jumping, bobsledding, snowboarding, and other events. For a real tour of the area from space, see NASA's Olympic Tour of Salt Lake City 2002 linked below.
