Cloudbank

What started off as a sunny October day turned dramatically cloudy as the cloudbank pictured above, near Green Bay, Wisconsin traversed the morning sky. This wall of clouds (wave clouds), while imposing in appearance, is not related to severe weather but rather to a low-level atmospheric disturbance associated with air flow over the still relatively warm waters (at this time of year) of Green Bay and nearby Lake Michigan. The photo was taken with a Minolta XG-1 camera.
