The above photo was taken this past August from Myrtos Beach on the Greek island of Cephalonia. A beautiful beach with a view of the Ionian Sea may seem like a great place to pitch a tent. However, on closer inspection, a steep slope with rocks and boulders strewn about should give pause to most people who would consider camping here. If not, the bright orange signs warning about the risk of landslides should make it clear that that you need to move elsewhere. Local authorities have posted the landslide signs warning about the hazard, but some tourists seem oblivious to the potential danger.
