Christmas Storm 2002
December 27, 2002
A powerful winter storm descended upon much of the eastern US on Christmas day, whitening the season but causing transportation havoc for many holiday travelers. The good old fashioned nor'easter dropped over 30 inches of snow in the Albany, New York area and was accompanied by high winds that closed airports and roads across the country from Oklahoma to New England. The rural Connecticut scene above hints at the winds and drifts of the morning after. The snow is welcomed here and across the northeast to help replenish reservoirs still recovering from recent drought.
