As seen on yesterday's Earth Science Picture of the Day, the glory is often observed from airplane windows, but it can also be created artificially. To accomplish this, I took a deep breath and exhaled to form a cloud of water vapor, and because I was positioned in a shaft of light in my barn, the glory appeared around my camera. Diffraction of light in uniform droplets of water (not ice) is responsible for the glory phenomenon.
