Tropical Storm Bill moves northward after pounding the Gulf Coast with 60 mph (96 km/hr) winds and up to a foot (30 cm) of rain. Bill made landfall in central Louisiana on Monday afternoon and promises to dampen those in its path up the east coast this week. A month into hurricane season, Bill is the first tropical storm to reach land, a rarity for June storms. Forecasters are predicting this year's hurricane season to be more active than normal.
