The above photo, taken on June 26, 2003, in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado, shows a glacial valley (center) south of Trail Ridge Road. Hayden Spire is at left center, with Sprague Mountain (12,713 ft or 3,912 m) to its left. The glacier that carved these mountain valleys during the last ice age flowed into what is now called Thompson Glacier (estimated to be 1,400 ft or 431 m thick), which moved from right to left - toward the east. Note the tundra vegetation visible in the foreground.
