One morning a few months back I was hiking near Pismo Beach, California and so was able to take in the delightful sunup pictured above. When the sky is clear, sunrises and sunsets are rather pedestrian compared to the ones where some mid-level or high clouds are present. Clouds and or aerosols (dust, salt particles, etc.) act to scatter and reflect sunlight across the sky, making for a more colorful experience. I love to watch the sunrise!
