This stunning sunset photo was captured at Rivière-Ouelle (Québec) Canada, on September 14, 2003. The mostly mid level (alto) clouds, which tend in an east-west direction, effectively color the sky in shades of crimson and tangerine. Quite often the towering and expansive layers of clouds heralding the approach of hurricanes or hurricane remnants produce "postcard" sunsets and sunrises. Red skies at night, skywatchers delight.
