The photo above showing the southern edge of the Australian continent was taken in September 2004. This scenic, rocky coast, consisting primarily of layers of limestone, lies west of Port Phillip Bay and Melbourne, the capital city of Victoria. The waterfall at center is plunging into the Bass Straight (Loch Ard Gorge, Victoria), which separates Victoria from Tasmania.
