This photo showing Mount St. Helens cloaked in snow was taken from the Johnston Ridge Observatory on November 16, 2004. The combination of sunlight and clouds presents an ever-changing view of this still very active volcano. The Observatory and VolcanoCam are located at an elevation of approximately 4,500 ft (1,372 m), about 5 miles (8 km) from the actual volcano. You're looking approximately south-southeast across the North Fork Toutle River Valley.
