Moonrise Over Selsey

The photo above was taken on the day after the full Moon (June 22, 2005), where the sky over Selsey, on the south coast of the United Kingdom, was beautifully clear. After an earlier photo session where I happily managed to capture the green flash (see link below), I drove over to the other side of the peninsula where Selsey is located, in time to catch this colorful and dramatic moonrise. Near the summer solstice, the full Moon never climbs very high in the sky, and the further north one travels (Selsey's latitude is approximately 51 degrees north), it's content to hug the horizon for an extended period just after sunset.
