The interesting cloud formation pictured above was taken from western Ireland, near Connemara, on the afternoon of July 26, 2005. It was an amazing experience to see this thick blanket coming in over my head! At first, I thought it could be a type of morning glory (gravity wave), or maybe even the approaching edge of a dense stratus deck?
