As I was waiting to take off from Houston Intercontinental Airport (Houston, Texas) on October 2, 2005, a storm on the western horizon yielded this magnificent sunset (left panel, looking towards the northwest). On the other side of the sky, light and shadow bands were created by sunlight filtering through gaps in the storm clouds as well as being blocked by buillding cumulonimbus towers. These anticrepuscular rays are visible in the right panel (looking towards the east).
