Today marks the 1-year anniversary that Hurricane Katrina slammed into the Gulf Coast of Louisiana and Mississippi. Three days after Katrina made landfall, I walked around through my neighborhood in Gulfport, Mississippi mostly in shock -- I couldn't believe the complete and utter destruction that I witnessed. Armed with a disposable Kodak camera, I happened upon a neighbor's house and was immediately taken by the view. Mother Nature showed her full force fury on August 29, 2005, and in her wake scenes like this played out all across the Gulf South. The people in the coastal region of Mississippi are strong, and the area and will eventually rebound, but it's going to take a while.
