The above photo showing star trails of the constellation Orion the Hunter was captured under dark skies in the vicinity of Curitiba, Brazil (in southern Brazil). Total exposure time was 40 minutes. On this late April night, Orion was sinking toward the western horizon. The Great Orion Nebula is responsible for the reddish trail, and the trail of Orion's Belt (composed of three 2nd magnitude stars) appears close to the upper right border of the picture. The track of the very bright first magnitude star, Rigel, is at upper center.
