This photo was taken early in the morning from my back door in Henrietta Township, Ohio, during a heat wave in early August. Since the saturated air just above the soybean canopy was below the dew point (low 70s F or about 22 C), radiation fog formed over the field as the ground slightly cooled overnight. It's likely that plant transpiration contributed to the moisture content of the air just over the bean field on this still summer morning, which presaged another hot, muggy day.
