What a fantastic sight, a streaking comet and a rousing sunrise! The photo above showing Comet McNaught was taken from Vallentuna, Sweden. It was really bright and easily seen with the naked eye -- a morning to remember! Comet McNaught was even visible in broad daylight. However, at its brightest, it was quite close to the Sun and therefore somewhat difficult to locate. As it approached the Sun, solar heating caused McNaught to vaporize tempestuously, rapidly increasing its magnitude. This may very well be the most brilliant comet in at least 50 years. Photo taken on January 8, 2007.
