On the way to visit my daughter, Katy, at the Island School in Eleuthera (Bahama Islands), we were greeted by these brilliant crepuscular rays. The rising Sun's rays were blocked by the prominent cumulonimbus cloud in the middle-ground. The growing convective cloud turret at center was responsible for the imposing shadow bands stretching across much of the sky. Photo taken on November 16, 2006.

While at the Island School we saw what high school students could accomplish when given the opportunity to engage in scientific research. Student research projects currently include patch reef monitoring, economic feasibility studies of sustainable energy systems, and aquaponics.
