This spectacular sunrise and glitter path was photographed from the shore of the James River, just south of historic Jamestown, Virginia, which earlier this month celebrated its 400th anniversary. A glitter path or patch is a frequently observed phenomenon resulting from the myriad tiny reflections of sunlight off of wavelets. Note also the column of light (Sun pillar) directly above the Sun.
Photo details: Nikon D200 camera, 70-200 mm lens, VR f/2.8, TC-20E-II.
