I had just arrived in Salt Lake City, Utah on a business trip when I noticed this stacked lenticular cloud formation looming over the hard-edged Wasatch Mountains. These fascinating wave clouds sometimes occur when relatively stable air is forced to rise over elevated terrain, where the air is cooled to the point of saturation.
