The photo above shows a sunset panorama of 3 images taken on March 31, 2007, from Saint Laurent sur Sèvre, France. This panorama features a pale, waxing gibbous Moon poised just above the salmon colored, altocumulus cloud deck. The photographer is looking east. Even when positioned on the opposite horizon from the Sun, high clouds are able to intercept the day's last glimmer of sunlight. This light is reddened as a result of the greater path length of the Sun's rays when near the horizon as compared to when nearly overhead.

Photo details: DSLR Canon EOS300D, 55 mm lens.
