Swamp Ice and Snow
July 21, 2007
The photo above showing a swampy snow scene was captured near East Syracuse, New York on January 27, 2007. The water level in this swamp was quite high when a hard freeze occurred. Snow then accumulated on the ice, and then the water level subsequently dropped, leaving the ice that was securely attached to the trees high and dry. Additional water drained into the swamp, turning the snow to slush and painting it the colors of mud.
