Looking out my bedroom window, I observed this magnificent crimson sunset over Curitiba, Brazil at late dusk on May 31, 2007. A high-pressure system over southern Brazil had been blocking approaching cold fronts in Uruguay and Argentina, as well as in the state of Rio Grande do Sul (the southern-most state in Brazil). But cirrus clouds associated with these fronts generated impressive sunsets for several consecutive days. The Sun was 9 degrees below the horizon at the time the photo was taken.
