Late in the afternoon on this early autumn day, a gorgeous pink cloud appeared over the Chugach Mountains, near Willow, Alaska. Suddenly, a brightly colored rainbow popped out. Its beauty was mesmerizing. We stopped our vehicle and stepped away from the roadside in order to get a better view and to take this picture. Note that the red bow fragment here resembles a colorized funnel cloud. Reddened rays from the setting Sun and a light mist in the air created this superb sky. Photo taken on September 4, 2007.
