The above photo shows a view of the summer afternoon sky from Bright, Victoria, Australia. Summer storms often develop here on afternoons whenever cold air from the south is forced high over the huge granite massif of Mt Buffalo. Reliable updrafts make Mt Buffalo one of the premier launching sites for paragliders and hang-glider pilots. Note the paraglider at center. These cumulus congestus clouds towered impressively from 1:00 p.m. into the early evening. However, on this day, no rain or electrical activity ensued. Photo taken on January 26, 2008.
Photo details: Canon EOS 40D camera, 70-300 mm, Sigma zoom lens at f/8.
