The Alaska Volcano Observatory (AVO) Web Page maintains several static Webcams. Of these, the Eider Point cam (above) on Unalaska Island in the Aleutians is my favorite. Views of Akutan Volcano are sometimes just spectacular, as are the ever changing colors reflecting the changing of seasons. The above photo from the AVO was taken in the winter of 2007 and shows a scarlet horizon. At the time it was taken, the Sun had set moments before. The long path length of sunlight, when the Sun is on or below the horizon, is responsible for the reddened glow.
