The photo above showing the rising full Moon looming above Madison, Wisconsin was shot with a 400 mm lens on June 18, 2008. The additionally magnification exaggerates the Moon’s apparent size. I positioned myself in front of Madison's skyline, including the capitol dome, in order to capture this sumptuous, apricot moonrise. Even without magnification, the rising (or setting ) Moon looks much bigger to our eyes than is actually the case. See the links below.
