The approaching thunderstorm shown above caught my eye as it was reflected on the surface of Indigo Springs in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming. The anvil shaped top of this cumulonimbus cloud indicates that it's a mature storm -- clouds are spreading out along the tropopause. Later this day (afternoon of June 30, 2008), the storm did in fact reach us and provided some needed rain for the area.
Indigo Springs is part of the Midway Geyser basin. It’s adjacent to the more famous Grand Prismatic Springs and Excelsior Springs.
