The photo above showing a creamy full Moon rising above an ancient acropolis was taken near Alexandroupolis, Greece on January 10, 2009. This age weary castle dates from the 13th century, from the Byzantium period. At one time a zinc and lead mine was located in proximity to the castle, and a little to the northwest (near Mesimvria) a seam of gold is still worked.
