The photo above shows a vivid lightning display from an early summer's thunderstorm in the Sunnors Alps of Norway. An estimated 1,500 lightning impacts were recorded in Møre and Romsdal County of western Norway during this potent storm, which resulted in a number of small wildfires as well as the widespread loss of electrical power. Note that remnants of the seasonal snow pack appear bluish on this exposure. Photo taken at 23.16 (local time) on June 29, 2009.
