The photo sequence above shows the work of glaciers in the Sierra de Urbión near Soria, Spain. Glacial moraines containing melting snow and ice formed a large lagoon known as Laguna Negra (Black Lagoon). Note the huge boulders that were displaced by the ice (upper right). This area was last glaciated during the Quaternary Period -- no glacial ice remains today. Photo taken on May 1, 2010.
