The image above shows a nearly cloud free satellite view of the United Kingdom and Ireland as observed on May 26, 2012 at 10:25 a.m. local time. The UK-DMC-2 satellite was built in Great Britain by Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd (SSTL). This image was acquired at a resolution of 72 ft (22 m), in pseudo real color, using the three spectral bands (near infrared, red and green wavelengths). Tan colored areas are generally devoid of leafy vegetation. Note the remnant patch of snow visible at upper right in the Cairngorm Mountains of the Scottish Highlands.

Image details: To achieve the overall green  color, Envi software was run and then a false green color was applied to give a more natural appearance.
