Vasquez Rocks is a sandstone formation located in Aqua Dulce, California, just north of the city of Los Angeles. This formation is composed of severely tilted sandstone layers that were uplifted by collisions of the North American Plate with the Pacific Plate, along the San Andreas Fault. It's named after one of California's most famous bandits, Tiburcio Vasquez, who hid out here in 1873 and 1874 to evade law enforcement personnel. Several movies and TV shows were filmed here, including episodes of Star Trek, Roswell and Bonanza. Photo taken on December 28, 2012.
