This animated view of the total solar eclipse/hybrid eclipse of November 3, 2013, was taken near Port Gentil, Gabon. I was on a small charted boat off Cape Lopez. Totality at this location lasted approximately 67 seconds. The track of the eclipse (path of umbra) arrived at the Port Gentil in mid afternoon (at 13:51 UT), where the Sun's altitude was 46 degrees. This eclipse began over the North Atlantic Ocean, swept across equatorial Africa and ended in east Africa (Somalia). Never look directly at the Sun during a solar eclipse event.

Photo details: Maksutov-Cassegrain telescope equipped with a Canon EOS 5D Mark III digital camera; 500mm, f/5.6; 1/8000 sec. exposure time and ISO 320 for partial phases; 1/4000 sec. exposure time and ISO 6400 for total phase. No tripod was used.
