The photo above show a glorious sunrise over the waters of Corio Bay, Australia. Crepuscular rays, cloud shadows and sun-fringed clouds herald the start of this early summer's day. Since the cumulus cloud at bottom is backlit by the Sun, and because its edges are much thinner than its middle, we're able to see a silver lining. In general, the thicker the cloud (in front of the Sun) the darker it appears. Photo taken on December 26, 2014.
