Laguna Epecuen, in the Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, experienced catastrophic flooding in November 1985. The lake and its immediate surroundings, including a tourist village (Villa Epecuen), were submerged beneath 25 ft (8 m) of water for nearly 30 years. Before the flooding, the lake water, having concentrations of salt 20 times that of seawater, was known for its medicinal properties. A few years ago, the waters finally receded, revealing ruins of the former village and remnants of once-stately trees. Photo taken during sunset on May 29, 2015.
