Shown above is a view of the Susquehanna River from atop Chickies Rock, part of Chickies Ridge in southeastern Pennsylvania. This ridge, reaching 587 ft (179 m), is an uplifted portion of the Cambrian Chickies Formation. It extends several miles to the east before merging into the surrounding uplands. Chickies Rock is the largest exposed anticline on the East Coast of the United States. Photo taken on October 18, 2015, just as a rainstorm moved off to the south (to the left of the picture) bathing Marietta, Pennsylvania (at far right), in sunlight.
