The photo above showing a spectacular set of crepuscular rays was taken from Šibenik, Croatia, just before sunset on February 10, 2016. It had been overcast with showers and thundershowers much of the day, but the Sun popped out late in the afternoon. You can see which cloud turrets (bottom of photo) actually form the dark rays (shadows). Sunlight streams through the gaps in the turrets resulting in the bright rays. Perspective makes the rays appear to converge at the horizon.
