Earlier this week a major storm system moved through western Europe after battering Ireland and England. Torrential rain and hurricane-strength winds hit Britain, leaving the country at a virtual standstill. The storms were the worst to hit the south of England since 1987. Two tornadoes were reported along England's southern coast. At least seven storm-related fatalities were reported.
