The above photo shows the geographic South Pole (90 degrees south latitude) in the foreground and the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station in the background. Old Santa has likely now settled in for a long winter's sleep at the North Pole. However, perhaps somewhere in Antarctica, near the South Pole, he has another workshop and an elf or two who help him handle things at the bottom of the world.
