The photo above was taken on the evening of July 15, 2003 and shows a majestic Moon rising above Caldas Novas, Brazil. On this night, the Moon was two days past full (waning gibbous phase). The wisp of cirrus clouds partially screening the lunar disk contributes to the ethereal quality of the image. Caldas Novas is located in southeastern Brazil, about 150 miles (240 km) south of Brasilia, Brazil's capital. It's known for having the largest hot springs resort in the world.
