The photo above shows a wind farm near Norfolk County, England, about 80 miles northeast of London. These wind turbines are more than 100 feet tall, but some turbines are well over 200 feet in heigth. A total of 822 turbines currently produce more than 380 megawatts of electricity in the UK, enough to meet the needs of quarter of a million homes annually. Norfolk generates about 1.4% of the total UK turbine-derived energy production. Wind energy may be an increasingly attractive source of energy in many places around the world, including California, since in nearly every country, annual energy costs are climbing and fossil fuel resources are dwindling.
