This beautiful photograph of red and green northern lights was taken before dawn on June 18 by Dominic Cantin, near Stoneham, Quebec (50 km north of Quebec City). He used Fuji Superia 800 film with a 28mm lens, a stop of f2.8, with an exposure of 25 seconds. Note the "W" shaped constellation of Cassiopeia, just above the tallest conifer. In the Northern Hemisphere, auroras can only be observed at this time of year south of the Arctic Circle (66 1/2 degrees north latitude).
