The summer heat must surely be bearable in these crystal pools along the San Ignacio River in the Sierra Madre Occidental of Chihuahua, Mexico. This region of north central Mexico is known for Copper Canyon or Barranca del Cobre in Spanish, a vast and deep canyon system offering spectacular scenery and outdoor adventure. It is also home to the Tarahumara or Rarámuri, Mexico's second largest native Indian group. The unspoiled natural beauty and traditional culture of the area makes Copper Country a popular eco-tourist destination.
